May updates - Big Changes!

This month started off with many of the plants responding to the seasonal increase of light and warmth. I have been greeted with new leaves, inflos, and growth. I was able to move a bunch of plants into ambient, including one of my massive carlas. Hopefully she does well!

For many months now I have been focusing on growing and streamlining my plant business. Its not just a hobby but a full time job! Between care, online posts, and selling on platforms it was so fun and exciting to expand into new heights. However, I began to realize my cap was shipping day. Selling plants is fun and all, but shipping out 30-50 plants + my moss poles and 3D prints per week was taking a toll all while also having a full time normie person job. Even with a partner helping on ship days it still was becoming overwhelming.

Then I got a new job offer! I am thrilled to have this new opportunity and am very excited. However, it means having to scale way back on the plants. I realized that I would not be able to do my import orders, lives, and care routine at the rate I had been. So I am downsizing a bit of my stock and keeping my favorites. I am not stopping plants, but I want to focus on my new job until I have a better idea of what I can handle.

I know for sure I will still be breeding my anthurium, and I have a ton of really cool crosses coming up on tap. I have so many beautiful plants and I have been successful in keeping my favorites as to not overwhelm myself while still keeping my vision true. I am being a lot more mindful and selective of plants I bring into my collection and making sure I plan for the future.

I have begun saving for IAS in Miami this September as well! I know I am on the hunt for a few select species and am really looking forward to the trip. I will be bringing my friend and fellow anthurium collector Lily (I always node it) along with me. This trip has been long awaited for! Among IAS I have always wanted to visit Florida despite many peoples rather... different opinions on the weather and activities there ;P I am gearing up for a fun time.

I hope your May has been full of blooms and I am looking forward to a beautiful summer here in Washington!
